The major stationery manufacturer 'Hinode Pencil' has a corporate culture that is strongly influenced by a sports-oriented mentality, where the voices from the sales department and other frontline staff are given top priority.
In the human resources office, labor officer Naoki Mano (played by Atsuko Maeda) is worried about the current state of the company and is struggling to change it to a proper working environment. Department head Miwa Hirata (played by Honami Suzuki) is anxious about Mano, who raises issues while ignoring the power balance between departments.
The HR department, overwhelmed with preparations for an internal karaoke competition initiated by the karaoke-loving president, Osamu Ogasawara (Takehiko Ono), was in disarray. Keisuke Sunaga (Shinya Niinou) was urging Ai Hori (Marika Matsumoto), Shiori Moriya (Hinako Sakurai), and Min Woo-jin (Heitetsu) to get moving, but he himself was doing nothing.
